Craig Trader's Chaos Machine

Education
The Chaos Machine is a large automated marble machine. What makes it chaotic is that everyone is invited to modify the machine, limited only by imagination and the laws of motion.

I solve problems for a living, usually with Computers. When I'm not working, I'm a key-holding member at Nova Labs, I run gaming conventions, I assist with FIRST Robotics competitions, and I exhibit the Chaos Machine at Maker Faires.

What inspired you to make this project?
I first encountered Steve Jackson's Chaos Machine at Penguicon in 2007, and went back for more in 2008 and 2009, by which time I had purchased a starter kit. By 2010, I had more than a dozen kits, and had exhibited it at small local conventions. When I decided to attend the North Carolina Maker Faire in 2010, taking the machine seemed like a good idea, and it was the hit of the faire. It's a lot of work, but I just love the sight of people of all sizes when they first see the machine, and then realize that they can help build it.
